Community Windpower Ltd is at the forefront of wind energy development in the UK with over 1,000MW built, under construction, with planning consent, and in development. Operating since 2001, we have a dedicated team of professionals who are committed to renewable energy and have extensive experience in the sector.

To date we have designed, developed and constructed 6 projects, providing 190MW of operational capacity. Our first, the Dalry Community Wind Farm, North Ayrshire, comprises 6 turbines generating 18MW and was commissioned in 2006. Following this is in 2009 was our largest operational scheme at Aikengall Community Wind Farm, East Lothian and comprises 16 turbines generating 48MW. The Millour Hill Community Wind Farm in North Ayrshire consists of 6 turbines generating 18 MW and was commissioned in 2012, with a 2 turbine 6.4MW extension added in 2016. This scheme stands adjacent to our Dalry Wind Farm, forming a natural extension to the original scheme. The 13 turbine, 39MW Calder Water Community Wind Farm, South Lanarkshire was commissioned in 2014. Our flagship Aikengall II Community Wind Farm commenced commercial operations in October 2017, and the 19 Siemens 3.2MW turbines now provide 60.8MW of green energy to the transmission network.

The Sanquhar Community Wind Farm scheme consisting of 9 Vestas 3.6MW turbines is finishing construction and operations are due in Q1 2018. The project will provide 30MW of green energy to Nestle UK, accounting for 50% of their UK energy demand.

We also have 125MW of consented wind farms, including a 6 turbine extension to the Sanquhar scheme, the 15 turbine Sneddon Law Community Wind Farm, and the Aikengall IIa Community Wind Farm.

We have a ‘Buy Scottish’ policy and a Memorandum of Understanding with CS Wind of Campbeltown. These are crucial components of all of our projects as we maintain our commitment to Scotland and its green energy industry, as we are set to invest over £1 billion in the Scottish economy.
